University Academic English Programme (UAEP)

This course is designed to help you prepare for a British international undergraduate programme in terms of English ability and international standard learning skills. It should also help you with cultural adaptation to a British university course.

The course focuses on English and study skills such as critical thinking, questioning skills, research skills, and presentation skills. All these skills will help you to be confident not only in speaking English, but also in critically analyzing other's ideas and being able to effectively present your own ideas, so you can take a degree course at the British University Vietnam. After taking the placement test you will know which of the 4 levels suits you best.

Who is it for?

Students who want to take a course at the British University Vietnam but do not hold an IELTS /TOEFL Certificate or who are not so confident in their English should take this course, which will also help with study skills for any international Degree programme.

Teachers

All the teachers have substantial teaching experience and relevant English teaching qualifications. They understand the specific skills requirements and are well equipped to help the studentsto be ready for the degree course at the British University Vietnam.

This programme has been developed by Apollo English, which has 15 years experience teaching in Vietnam to international standards, and is supported by British University Vietnam's expertise, which is linked to Staffordshire and the University of London.

Placement test

The placement test helps you know exactly which level you are, and will be held 3 weeks before the start dates of each UAEP course. Registration and Placement tests are available at British University Vietnam Hanoi City Campus 193 Ba Trieu, Hai Ba Trung, Ha Noi.

Scholarship

There will be up to 100 scholarships worth up to 1000USD each.

How to apply for a scholarship

• This scholarship will be awarded to candidates with successful performance at High School, competent English capacity and a desire to obtain English fluency, as well as some core skills necessary for the higher education learning environment.
• To apply for a scholarship, we recommend that you should check our details on our website or call our Customer Service for a consultancy first. When you have the information you need, please submit to the Admissions Office all the relevant documents, as specified in section 2.1 below.

When to apply for a scholarship

• A Placement test will be held one month before the commencement of the course
• All the relevant documents must be submitted, at the latest, one week prior to the date of the Placement Test
• The scholarship results will be announced one day after the date of the Placement Test
• Deadline for payment is 10 days after the announcement of the scholarship results.

1.Your most recent Academic Transcript at High School
2.Your Personal Statement about your future plans (Section 9 in UAEP Application Form)

Deadline for the scholarship application for UAEP commencing on 21/12/09 is 11/12/09. We will announce the scholarship results on 15/12/09 to successful applicants only.

2. 2 Opening date

The UAEP programme is a 10 week- full-time programme in small classes, held from Monday to Friday.

• Our next entry date for UAEP is March 8th, 2010. Please submit all the relevant documents specified in the following parts for entry and scholarship assessment in UAEP before January 22nd, 2010.
• The placement test PT will be held on February 1st, 2010
• The result of PT as well as scholarship will be announced on February 2nd, 2010
• Deadline for payment is February 5th, 2010.

2.3 Course structure

The UAEP programme provides the students with a learning environment that will help them to develop their skills in the English language, independent learning and content knowledge within a British higher education context. It consists of 4 levels

2.4 Tuition Fee

The application fee for UAEP is included in the registration fee for the Placement Test. Registration fee for the Placement Test into UAEP is 100,000 VND

Tuition Fee is $1,530 for each level. Determination of which level you are at depends on your Placement Test result. Tto secure a place in the UAEP course starting in 21/12/09, fees must be paid at the latest by December 17th,2009.
