Ceremony Recognizing the Principal of British University Vietnam

According to Decision Nos 61/2009/QD-TTG and 1428/QD-TTG by the Prime Minister on the establishment of the British University Vietnam,  Mr. Nguyen Tan Phat,Former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, solemnly announced at BUV on 9 May 2010 that Sir Graeme  Davies FRSE FREng would serve as the university’s Principal. His term of office runs from 2010 to 2015 .

 

Welcomed at the ceremony were: Mr. Tran Van Nhung, Former Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Tran Ba Viet Dung, Director of International Corporation Department; Mr. Ngo Manh Hai, Deputy Director General, Personnel Department; Mr. Simon Beardow, Deputy Director of British Council; and key members of the university’s Board of Management. 

In his congratulatory speech, Mr Tran Ba Viet Dung expressed his sincere belief in the developing potential of the university, particularly under the guidance of its new principal, Sir Graeme Davies. Sir Graeme has had considerable experience in teaching as well as administration in prestigious British universities, such as those of Liverpool, Glasgow and London. He is also a former Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and was knighted for his great contribution to British undergraduate and postgraduate education.
